Inclusive Facilitation: Manage Power Dynamics & Design For Authentic Engagement

This workshop takes a close look at inclusive facilitation practices that help keep your group together for the entire journey of your event and to create space for all to actively participate.

All groups have existing power dynamics that privilege some people’s participation and involvement over others’. We will share examples of design choices you can make ahead of time to maximize everyone’s engagement and to make space for everyone’s perspective.

We will also share examples of facilitation choices you can make in the moment to respond effectively when something unexpected happens, whether it’s one person taking up a lot of space, a change in timing, or an activity going worse (or better!) than you anticipated.

We will anchor back to a visual model that can help you as a facilitator to stay rooted to the purpose and goals of your event and to the good intentions and goals of your participants.
